Four Young Women Join Thousands In Commitment To Moral Purity

Paula Wright of Lord's Fine Jewelry, Piedmont, Oklahoma, said that she recently received a phone call from Kendra Whittaker of Canton, Ohio. Kendra was calling to order "Moral Purity" or "Moral Commitment" rings for herself and three of her friends.

"This is a trend that is definitely growing by leaps and bounds," says Mrs. Wright. "We are one of several companies across the nation that specializes in Moral Commitment rings. The past few years has seen a steady increase in young people ordering these rings. In a society that is becoming more decadent and immoral, it is encouraging to see Christian young people -- men and women -- taking a bold stand for Christian values."

Mrs. Wright, impressed that four friends have decided together to take such a stand, asked them to put in writing why they reached this decision. Here is what they said:

Sarah Weirich: "Getting a chastity ring means a lot to me. I've wanted one for a long time because it's like an outside witness of what I believe. I could promise a lot of things, but unless there is something to back it up, a lot of my promises are broken. With this ring, I know I'll be reminded all the time of the promise I made to stay pure."

Kendra Whittaker: "A chastity ring, to me, symbolizes one of the biggest commitments I can make. I have given the Lord my heart, my soul, and my mind. Now I have made the decision to give Him my body, and my purity until the night of my wedding, when I give myself to my husband as a wedding gift. Every time I look down at my ring, it reminds me that I have made God my first love, and I am 'married' to Him until He brings that one special man He has chosen for me."

Emily Fearon: "My chastity ring is one of many ways to show God that I love Him and respect His word. By staying pure I am showing my future husband just how much I love him. I know that my decision to wait until God brings me the husband He will choose for me, will please God, and make my wedding extra special for my husband and me."

Heather Marshall: "This ring symbolizes the commitment I have with my God to wait for the man that He has prepared just for me. I know that it is God's good and perfect will for me to stay pure until the day that I am married."
